Happy Halloween?

Well, by the title of my post some of you might think we did not have a happy Halloween. We actually did have a happy Halloween, but I found it ironic that I am posting about Halloween the week of Thanksgiving. Maybe I'll get the pictures from Thanksgiving posted by Christmas. ;)

Well, we definitely had a good Halloween. I dressed up three different times. I went as a cowgirl to work and to our ward Halloween party. I actually don't have any pictures of that. We had a Tiek family Halloween party again this year. I was scrambling the night of the party, so I just dressed up as "static cling." I wore all black and then attached underwear socks and dryer sheets to myself. That's all I could come up with at the last minute...Jason got a little more, well, creative I guess.

Me in all my static cling glory.

This is me wasting the other females at the doughnut eating contest. It actually took me a long time to get those last two bites into my mouth. The doughnut just wouldn't hold still.

This is Jason's creative costume...I believe he was David Bowie. I couldn't get past the eye liner. I'm quite a fan. ;)

On the actual day of Halloween we went to a party at a ward member's house. It was really fun, and they definitely went all out. One person made chicken noodle soup...they used the extra dough from their noodles to make eyeballs. It was really quite amusing. I was thoroughly entertained by it. For this party we went as Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein. This was definitely my best costume of the weekend, and I think Jason looked amazing. Here are a couple pictures for you to see for yourself...

Don't you worry...there was dancing at the party. And I did indeed dance like the Bride of Frankenstein (think Thriller by Odyssey Dance Theater for those of you who have seen it. People were quite entertained. Apparently I have no shame.)

Pumpkin Carving Time!

This last weekend we went up to Salt Lake and hung out with some of my coworkers and their spouses. Kass (one of my coworkers) was kind enough to invite us all over to her house for some good ole pumpkin carving. I absolutely love everything to do with holidays so I was so excited to celebrate with other people. We spent the evening chatting, carving pumpkins, and enjoying treats (like Kass's delicious caramel popcorn.!) I am glad so glad I work with such great girls. They are so much fun, and we had a fabulous weekend!

Jason and Steve concentrating hard on their pumpkin carving.

All the girls (me, Brittany, Kass, Lisa, Molly, and Megan.)

Me and Jas with all the pumpkins...ours is the witch on the far right...it's kind of hard to tell what it is when it's not lit up. It's totally awesome lit up!

The whole group and their pumpkins.

This is our pumpkin on our way back to Provo the next day. We had to make sure it was safe and didn't get cracked!

And after a brief hiatus...

Well, I guess my hiatus from blogging has been more than brief. I have been a terrible blogger for the last few months. A lot has happened over the course of just three months. We went on a family reunion trip with my family for a week in July. The next week we ran our first race. We ran in the Deseret News 10K on July 24. That same day we headed up Spanish Fork canyon for a reunion with Jason's family. Not long after we got back from that reunion I got a job. I now work for an online university called Independence University. I am in their admissions and registrar's departments. I do work for both departments. I mostly deal with student transcripts. I love it! And it is so nice to just come home at night and have absolutely nothing to worry about. Jason and I are completely immersed in the real world now. When school was about to begin I thought I was going to miss it...I don't miss it. :) A week after I started work Jason and I went to visit his sister and her husband and kids in Seattle. I loved Seattle and I loved spending time with them! Right after we got home from Seattle we moved. We now live in Jason's brother's basement. We are all settled in now. It is nice to have a change of scenery. This last week Jason and I went up Provo canyon to look at the leaves. I have not seen leaves that vibrant and beautiful in a long time. The leaves were incredible. I absolutely love fall. If it weren't for the fact that winter is looming her ugly head just around the corner this season would be perfect. This tree seriously looked like it was glowing. The leaves were just incredible.I have not seen leaves this beautiful in a long time..it was a little windy so there was some dust in the distance.

We may or may not have had a photo shoot while we were up there...there's plenty more like this of both of us that I will refrain from posting.

Happy autumn!

Fun-filled Fourth

Jason and I had a fabulous Fourth of July. This is one of my favorite times of year. I love holidays and the Fourth of July is no exception. The morning of the third we were in Provo. We went to their hot air balloon festival at six-thirty in the morning. I am so glad I have a husband that goes to all these holiday events just to appease me. And he does it without complaining. After watching the hot air balloons take off and fly around for awhile we went to Magleby's Fresh for some all-you-can-eat french toast. Later that day we went to Seven Peaks and then headed up to Bountiful for a barbecue. In my excitement for the holiday I decided I wanted to make something festive so I made what is called Red, White, and Blue Cheesecake. It was delicious AND festive. That night we watched fireworks with my family and then spent the night in Bountiful.

Even with all the unique balloons these rainbow ones are still my favorite.

Me with my Red, White, and Blue Cheesecake.

Early Saturday morning we headed up to Brigham City to spend the remainder of the weekend with Jason's family. Jason's uncle Don was kind enough to take us boating during the morning and afternoon. Later that evening we had a barbecue at Don and Fran's (Jason's uncle and aunt) and then watched the Brigham City fireworks. After the fireworks we headed over to Jason's grandparents house for homemade ice cream and sparklers. It was a fabulous Fourth.

Jason jumping the wake.

Me in all my amateur wakeboarding glory.

The boys passing the time playing Boce ball.

Allison and I happened to wear matching shirts. How embarrassing...;)

The finale sparkler dance. My favorite is Tami...I guess she's a little camera shy.

Happy Father's Day!

I know this is a little late, but I want to give a shout out to the amazing fathers out there. First I want to give a tribute to the most amazing dad I could have asked for. I could not be more grateful and happy to have such a wonderful father.

Me and my dad...I couldn't have gotten a better one

I also want to give a shout out to Jason. He isn't a dad yet, but the picture shows what an awesome dad he is going to be. He loves kids and they love him. And I happen to love him too. ;)

The following pictures are from our Father's Day celebration. We celebrated on Saturday with the Tieks. We had a kebabs on Dave's new BBQ (that was a gift from Debbie and all of us) and enjoyed some homemade ice cream for dessert. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera handy at that celebration, so I don't have any pictures. On Sunday we went to my parents house in Bountiful. They actually spoke in church that day so we also attended their church. We had steak and crab legs for dessert...actually it was crab claws, but they taste about the same. All the Stapley kids got him a new iPod for Father's Day. He was pretty excited.

He can barely contain his excitement in this picture.

What else can you do with crab claws other than pretend they are fangs?

Adelynn Michelle's Blessing

Well since I graduated there has not been much to report. I am still looking for a job. Jason is still working at Western Wats as their marketing director. This past weekend we actually did something worth reporting. We headed down to St. George for a baby blessing. My sister Amy blessed her little girl Addie. I headed down early on Friday with my Mom and the boys (Jason, my brother Matt, and my dad) headed down that night. We stayed in a really nice condo called Coral Springs. My brother David drove up from California with his family that night as well. On Saturday we went and saw the movie "Up" in 3D. It was really good. Afterwards we went out to eat and then headed back to our condo to go swimming and play tennis and such. For some weird reason they put dye in their hot tub so my hands and fingernails turned blue. I have a really blond niece and her hair actually turned blue. Apparently it is not okay for water to just be the color of water...On Sunday we had the blessing. Paul did a really good job. Afterwards we had a luncheon with both sides of the family. Most everyone on our side left that night because they had to get back to work. I ended up staying the night with my parents and driving back the next day. It was a short trip, but it was fun to see the members of my family that came.
We were all extremely into the movie...especially Jason.:)

All the women and kids.

In the hot tub that dyed us blue.

Cute cousins

The reason for the visit...isn't she beautiful?

Mother and daughter

The whole clan before everyone left.

A Day at the Mechanic

This post won't have any pictures. I had an interesting experience yesterday. Jason came home for lunch so he could get our new scooter inspected and licensed. The inspection ended up taking more time than usual, so I ended up staying at the mechanic waiting for it so he could go back to work. The mechanic was just a block from our apartment. For those of you who have been to our apartment you know that we live in a very sketchy neighborhood. It is definitely the ghetto of Provo. The scooter was finished and I had paid the mechanic so I was going to go on my way. I had never driven the scooter before so I was a little nervous. I called Jason so I could make sure of how to work everything on the scooter. I had my helmet on so it was difficult to hear anything so I had him on speaker phone. There were two freaky looking guys trying to talk to me but I couldn't hear them because of the helmet. All of a sudden I feel someone behind me on the scooter and I feel someone's arms go around my waist. I didn't know what to do...I was on the phone so I couldn't drive away yet so I tried to hurry and get off the phone. I would have kept Jason on the phone so that I felt safer but I knew I couldn't drive off until I was off the phone. I finally got off the phone and the guy just sat there. Then he put his hands on my waist and squeezed it a few times and then got off the scooter giggling. He thought he was so funny. He asked if I would take him for a ride and, of course, I said no. I weasled my way out of the situation and drove off quickly. Needless to say the whole experience made me feel very uncomfortable.
